Organizing Your Room, Your House, Your Office, Your Affairs, Your Life

When I was a child, I spent hours building a tree house. Every day I’d drop my school books on the kitchen table and run out in to the backyard. With the help of my best friend, I build a second floor, put in carpeting and hung up artwork. My parents thought that it was a wreck. But for me, it was the one place in the world I wanted to be. Away from the chaos of school and family, I could sit in a world which made sense, on e in which all the nails were pounded in, the walls painted, the floor swept. Today I stand before the woolen singles’ bar that is my sock drawer and unite couples that were meant to be. I pay the bills. I call a friend who I’ve neglected. I clarify my most personal struggles. I bring order to this chaos one nail at a time.

Blessing:

(upon restoring order)

Baruch hamevi seder l’olam.

Blessed is the One who brings order to the world and who blesses our own efforts to bring order.

Teaching:

"And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep, and a wind from God moved upon the face of the waters." (Genesis 1:2) From that beginning, God created the world and the perfect order of nature.

Bayom ha’hu Y’hiyeh Adonai echad u’shmo echad.

On that day the unity of God will be restored.
