CLAL’s New Pictorial Calendar & Daily Planner Celebrates The Artistry Of Craftsmanship With The Wisdom Of Jewish Thought

Featuring the Beauty of Finely Turned Wood Vessels, New Sacred Days Calendar, With Selected Texts, Offers the Inspiration of Jewish Insight with Human Design

By Judy Epstein, Director of Public Affairs

Pairing the elegance of Jewish expression with the artistry of fine craftsmanship, CLAL’s new Sacred Days 5765-5766 (2004-2005) calendar and daily planner is now available.  Offering stunning photographs of unique turned and shaped natural wood objects with texts selected by the CLAL faculty, this colorful pictorial resource presents the timelessness of Jewish wisdom with the inspiration of human design.

Photographed from the renowned collection of Anita and Ronald Wornick, the wood images convey the beauty and spirituality of handcrafted art.  Recognizing that sacred vessels – from the kiddush cup on Shabbat to the glass of wine at our weddings – have always been part of Jewish life, the calendar illustrates how these objects carry our hopes and aspirations while celebrating the wonder of nature and creativity.  Coupled with stirring commentary written or chosen by CLAL faculty, it connects the majestic with the divine.

“The Sacred Days calendar embodies much of CLAL’s work,” said Donna M. Rosenthal, Executive Vice Chairman of CLAL.  “It reflects the soul of the artist and of Jewish life.  It reminds us daily of the infinite potential that we have, and the transcendent partnership between human capacity and the sacred.”

The easy to use Sacred Days calendar and daily planner features all of the Jewish holidays and Torah readings for Shabbat, candlelighting times for 14 cities in North America plus Jerusalem, and Torah, Haftarah and special liturgical readings for Jewish holidays.  Spiral bound and spanning 16 months, it offers daily planning in a weekly format.

To order the Sacred Days calendar and daily planner, send a check or money order to CLAL Sacred Days Calendar, 440 Park Avenue South, 4th Floor, New York, NY 10016-8012.
