CLAL Website Wins 2nd Place By Blackbaud, Leading Software Manufacturer For Non-ProfitsBy Judy Epstein, Director of Public Affairs
Blackbaud, a leading manufacturer of software systems for non-profits, awarded CLAL a Silver Medal for the design of its Website, www.clal.org. Attending the awards presentation were representatives of organizations from the arts, health care, social service, and religious communities. Blackbaud, known for its software package Raiser’s Edge, which is used by many organizations, rated groups’ Websites for the clarity of design, presentation, and currency of information. They found CLAL’s Website to be attractive, to organize information well, and to be readily accessible. “We are proud that our Website not only reflects our mission and purpose, but is considered an exemplary model by leaders in the field,” said Donna M. Rosenthal, Executive Vice Chairman of CLAL. “Our challenge is always to keep in mind our audience and to ensure that we are providing them with compelling and informative material.” CLAL’s Website receives more than 30,000 hits a month. It’s on-line magazine eCLAL: An Online Journal of Religion, Public Life and Culture, edited by Michael Gottsegen, Ph.D., Director of Internet Programs, provides in-depth coverage of critical issues of the day. CLAL’s “Best of the Web” offers insightful articles on religion, public life and culture, and gives readers easy access to a broad range of opinions with one simple click. “CLAL was one of the first Jewish non-profits to develop a Website, and we have invested a lot of energy into guaranteeing that it is user-friendly and vital for our constituents, with current, thought-provoking information,” said Dr. Gottsegen. “Early on, CLAL understood the potential of the Web, and we are determined to stay on the cutting edge as we go forward.”
