CLAL ESTABLISHES INTERNET PRESENCE

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, April 3, 1998. In a significant expansion of access to its programming, CLAL - The National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership has established a web-site on the Internet at www.clal.org. CLAL's presence on the Internet will extend its outreach and make possible a wider dialogue among groups and individuals interested in the organization's innovative programs for lay and professional Jewish leaders.

Those visiting CLAL's web-site will find the latest on-line information about:

 

The CLAL fellowship program, seminars and courses for emerging lay leadership

 

Institutes and retreats for rabbis, educators and communal professionals

 

The wide variety of educational materials and publications available through CLAL headquarters and the following special features:

 
   
CLAL-Ha'Shavuah, a weekly magazine which includes a commentary on the week's Torah portion and opinion pieces on events of significance in the Jewish world
   
CLAL Talk, an on-line discussion forum for anyone visiting the site who wishes to address issues of the day, contemporary spirituality and other topics of interest
   
The CLAL Alumni/ae Fora, on-line discussion sites for alumni/ae of CLAL programs
   
Shma On-Line, which includes selections from recent Shma articles and an on-line discussion space

In addition, individual CLAL faculty members will be available to provide commentary and opinion pieces, as appropriate.

"This is a major step toward informing the wider public of the many services CLAL provides, including its outstanding fellowship program, seminars and courses for emerging lay leadership; the institutes and retreats for rabbis, educators and communal professionals; and the wide variety of educational materials and publications available through the organization's headquarters," said Charles R. Bronfman, Chairman of CLAL's Board of Directors.

CLAL provides cutting-edge programs in more than 100 cities to empower lay leaders, rabbis, educators and communal professionals to address the challenges facing North American Jews. Its faculty of renowned rabbis and scholars representing all the denominations of Judaism help generate new insights and applications to reimagine and revitalize the Jewish community and its institutions.

CLAL's programs provide a unique framework for transformation to ensure Jewish continuity and renewal as the 21st century approaches.
