BUILDING BRIDGES: ABRAHAMIC PERSPECTIVES IN THE WORLD TODAY
Most Popular Series on Bridges TV American Muslim TV Begins
Season II, with Host Rabbi Brad Hirschfield
Provocative Interfaith Program Looks at the Divisive Issues Splitting our
Faiths and Our Country
Based on the resounding
success of last season’s Building Bridges: Abrahamic Perspectives on the
World Today, a first-ever program conceived by a rabbi, Brad
Hirschfield, for Bridges TV-American Muslim TV, a new series has been
developed to begin airing on Tuesdays at 8:30 pm EST (repeated on Saturdays
at 9 pm EST).
Created and hosted by Rabbi Hirschfield, a well-known advocate for religious
pluralism, the new series will add the voices of the American public, with
interviews, comments, and questions from the “man on the street.” Fast paced
and directly tied to today’s news, the series promises to give viewers a
deeper understanding of how religious leaders of the three major Abrahamic
faiths Judaism, Christianity, and Islam see themselves, the world, and
each other, as they grapple with the divisive issues splitting America.
“There is nothing like religion to fuel conflict and drive people apart,”
said Rabbi Hirschfield, President of CLAL-The National Jewish for Learning
and Leadership, “but there is also nothing like religion with the capacity
to build bridges between people and draw them together. This series brings
our sacred traditions together to meet the challenges of contemporary life.”
Joining with leading Imams and Christian leaders from around the country,
Rabbi Hirschfield explores many of the central topics making the headlines
healthcare, immigration, and global warming while addressing some of the
personal issues that all families face love, marriage/divorce, work, and
parenting.
“In its new format, Building Bridges offers audiences the chance to hear not
only our voices, but also their own,” said Rabbi Hirschfield. “The shows are
linked to the real questions people face in their own lives. We look to see
how faith can meet those needs and help people cope with the concerns.”
In 2001, Bridges TV was created in response to the anti-Muslim rhetoric
pervasive in the U.S. media post-9/11. Started by Mo Hassan and his wife,
Aasyia Zubair, and developed for the American Muslim community, it offers a
positive alternative, bringing diverse quality shows to its audiences.
Today, Bridges TV reaches over two million households nationwide through its
contracts with Comcast, Verizon FIOS, other cable providers and satellite
dish. For more information, go to
