HIRSCHFIELD AND KULA, INTELLIGENT TALK RADIO
Shattering Status Quo, Dynamic Duo Offer Provocative Edge
on What is Stirring America on KXL, Portland, OR
First Ever: Two Rabbis, Hirschfield and Kula, Hit the Airwaves,
Going Beyond Religion and “the Same Old” for Incisive Talk
Stirring and provocative, an original new radio show
Hirschfield and Kula,
Intelligent Talk Radio, will launch on KXL in Portland, OR one of the top
25 markets in the country. Beginning on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 12:00 midnight,
this compelling and engaging weekly one hour show, featuring hosts Brad
Hirschfield and Irwin Kula, will offer today’s newsmakers as guests for
lively talk on the issues of the day. This first-ever radio show hosted by
two rabbis takes contemporary debates to a new place. Going beyond religion,
and bringing their own unique perspectives, Hirschfield and Kula provides
listeners with an alternative to the usual left and right wing banter,
finding the hidden agendas buried deep on both sides of the divide. Thought
provoking, and covering the American spiritual, cultural and political
landscape, Hirschfield and Kula provides a perspective missing from today’s
airwaves.
“Radio provides an opportunity to touch people intimately,” says Kula. “You
can take part while doing your laundry or driving, and it doesn’t matter
what opinions you already hold. Our show, while fun and entertaining, asks
you to move beyond your comfort zone.” Hirschfield continues, “What sets our
show apart is that it is not just about talking, but listening. So much of
talk radio is about one-sided conversations, with listeners leaving where
they started. Our show is about stretching finding the 1% truth of the
other side.”
Stretching beyond the “same old, same old,” Hirschfield and Kula gives late
night talk a new challenge and standard. Topics span from reinstating the
draft, to God on the political ropes, to the shootings over PlayStation 3.
Defying knee jerk attitudes, its innovative programs offer listeners
surprises they won’t want to miss.
Known as exceptional commentators on what is driving America, Hirschfield
and Kula are both seasoned media personalities. From NPR to Westwood One,
they have regularly been on the talk show circuit. Hirschfield, who just
completed a series with Bridges TV (American Muslim TV), has been a guest on
everything from The Joey Reynolds Show to The Osgood Files. Frequently
quoted in the press, he was featured on Nightline UpClose, and Frontline on
the anniversary of 9/11. Kula, whose new book, Yearnings: Embracing the
Sacred Messiness of Life (Hyperion) inspired a Public TV pledge special now
airing, is often sought out by media. A frequent guest on The Today Show, he
has been on a range of radio shows, from Jim Bohannon to Air America.
