CLAL’s New Calendar & Daily Planner Celebrates the Many Voices of Jewish
Life through Inspired Reflections and Captivating Art
-- Commemorating CLAL’s 30
Year Past, Its New Sacred Days Calendar Features the Moving Artwork
of Moico Yaker and the Beauty of Jewish Wisdom through Word and Image
By Judy Epstein, Director of Public Affairs
In celebration of CLAL’s 30th anniversary, this year’s
new Sacred Days 5766-5767 (2005-2006) calendar features essays, insights,
and stories by people who’ve been touched by CLAL over the years. Spanning
the generations and denominations, the authors offer observations and
thoughts about Jewish life and purpose in new ways, presenting a wide range
of topics from personal torah to CLAL’s teachings and how they relate to
such contemporary issues as Jewish unity, Israel, the Holocaust, and memory.
Woven amongst the texts is the stunning artwork of Moico Yaker, a well-known
Jewish artist of Lima, Peru, whose pieces celebrate the richness and
diversity of Jewish identity and wisdom, while reflecting on the complexity
and sacredness of the spiritual journey. They illustrate the deep connection
of the Jewish people and the eternal link of all humanity.
“The Sacred Days calendar embodies CLAL’s pluralist work over these past 30
years,” said Donna M. Rosenthal, Executive Vice Chairman of CLAL. “It
reflects the many ways that people experience and express their Jewish
identity, celebrating each while honoring them all. The texts, with Moiko’s
exceptional artwork, capture the spirit of the sacred and the human
potential.”
The easy to use Sacred Days calendar and daily planner features all of the
Jewish holidays and Torah readings for Shabbat, candle-lighting times for 14
cities in North America and Jerusalem, and Torah, Haftarah and special
liturgical readings for Jewish holidays. Spiral bound and spanning 16
months, it offers daily planning in a weekly format.
